Would you like to be part of a community of people who would judge you based on the content of your character rather than your color, sexuality, religion, gender, gender identity, etc..., and are generally progressive thinking, open minded and friendly? One aspect of our mission is to provide you with a high caliber social experience and to introduce you to forward thinking individuals.
Our primary goal is to improve interracial relations on a global scale and increase sensitivity to diversity and multiculturalism. We will accomplish this goal through a partnership with a third party affiliate in which Shades of Color NYC will function as the general partner.
If you would like to join one of our private Facebook Groups formerly published on Meetup.com, you must make your request to join via this website not Facebook, first, you need to send a friend request to the Diversity King (on Facebook) which will allow you to view the full mission statement of our Facebook Pages listed on this site and get notifications about their related events; many of our functions will involve multiple networks listed on this site. Go to the following URL to contact the Diversity King: http://facebook.com/diversityKing.
Once you make a request to join one of our private groups, you will receive an e-mail with a list of profile questions, if you answer them favorably, you will be sent a link to the related private group(s). Because our approval process is more stringent than our former affiliated third party site (Meetup.com) we can provide you with a better quality of members and experience. Like our former third party website, (Meetup.com) Shades of Color NYC is a face to face driven community, bringing people together online to meet offline. Go to our Group Request page to apply to join a related network(s) of your interest.
Our History
This site has been published on the the web since April of 2011. Shades Of Color NYC has an affiliation of private Facebook groups
(which were formerly hosted via Meetup.com) dedicated to social networking
events that reflect multicultural diversity which includes biracial and
multiracial individuals. We organize functions through out the New York City area
and places in New Jersey and Connecticut nearby. We will eventually expand our services on a world wide scale through our partnership with our pending third party affiliate network.
We specialize in interracial
relations (interracial speed dating and interracial events for singles; a face
to face alternative to interracial dating sites) and mixed crowd functions and
also endeavor to bridge the gap between the LGBT community and the
heterosexual. We also host professional social networking and networking in
business, as well as, nightlife, after work party mixers and other related
functions. In addition, we feature specialty groups for CFS, CFIDS, and
Fibromyalgia Sufferer's (dedicated to a close friend of mine's) and alcohol
free socials that incorporate non-alcoholic mocktail functions. Also, we host a
sexually liberal network open to former and current members of the adult
entertainment industry (exotic dancers (strippers), porn stars and exotic women) or any woman who is free spirited sexually and open minded in terms of
choosing partners. The basic concept behind the group is that finding a
personality match is just as important as a sexual one. We also offer auxiliary
services; we provide access to a host of whole sale vendors saving you lots
of money online, go to the bottom of our Group request page to find out more.
We administer events utilizing private Facebook groups rather than Meetups. Like Meetup groups, you can send messages to members if the Organizer (on Meetup) activates that feature. But unlike Meetup, you can instantly chat with other individuals in the group, and when you post a message, all members will be notified as opposed to the Meetup Message Board; very few members on meetup utilize or maintain awareness of Message Board activity.
We charge a nominal fee for all of our exclusive events, $3. If the event has an RSVP limit, you will be refunded if you attend. Attending means you spent at least half an hour at the venue and bought one drink. You do not get credit for simply passing through. If it is a general social function where a significant amount of guest are expected to attend (it would be inexpedient to have to refund anywhere from 200 to 300 or more individuals) with no RSVP limit (people are 90% more likely to show up if they have paid in advance) in that case, you will not be reimbursed. The $3 remittance will help insure your attendance.
